Playing around with type and composition. I also tried adding a slide show, however it tends to crop a lot of the images, so I think we might have to take out the map/video. Instead I might add the map next to the intro underneath the slide. What do you guys think?
We also decided to put up the video in the about me section instead of the map image (considering theres already a special tab for the map). We don't want to have two repeated videos on the website. Also considering the audience doesn't always go to the homepage so the video should be placed somewhere where the audience tends to go to.
As for the images within the slideshow, I want to choose something colourful, with a nice contrast to create a pop of colour. This will link back to our words: captivate, energy and memorable. We had originally decided to go for a white background but that kind of takes away the nice contrast and colours. Considering readability, I went for a dark purple instead of black for the background.
Altered a few things. The previous slide show was quite nice because it fills the page, but it started making the photos very blurry cause of the size. We tried to use a smaller slide show but it doesn't seem to have the same impact as the other one.
Also added a language option for tourist and a search bar for quick navigation. I also changed the navigation bar text to blue since white was too hard to read on black.
I added a black background behind the photo. I feel that it creates a better contrast with the photos. The dark blue sides previously, made it look almost awkward. I think this works better in terms of hierarchy as well. It is also a good way-finding system (with the different colour section). The photos are also not stretched and blurry this way. I also changed to a different slideshow system. This one includes mini thumbnails so the viewer knows there are more than one photo, and I guess it is also a good sign that it is clickable.
Started to add the content. Tried to keep it simple and straight to the point. The longer information will be in 'about us'.
