Wireframes Updated

Today I completed the two wireframes that were remaining. The Get involved and contact us page.

They are quite similar in concerns of the layout but serve different functions obviously. These two pages aren't our 'wow' pages. According to the revised brief we have chosen our 'experiences' page as our extra page for the presentation. It plays on our whole idea of the festival being memorable.

Wire Frame Trials

After today's class, it is more important for us to knockdown the layout of each page just so we can get on with doing it in the programme.

About Us Page

The about us page may need little snippets from the other pages just so the user gets a feel that there is more to look for.

Map Page

Adding the schedule along with the map seems to tie in because it will definitely provide the information for the user on one page. Both will be downloadable and of course they will be inverses so the user can save their ink.

The map also has another purpose and becomes interactive. When you roll over a dotted location a screen will pop up on the side displaying the artist profile and their work.

Lightworks Page

This is a first concept of the light works page. It seems to cluttered and not sorted out clearly according to location or artist. These artist profiles would've led to another page that was about that particular artist and their work.

This was the next step up from the previous wireframe. It would be split up by the three locations and to the right would be a slideshow for each category. It would lead off to another page like below:

This page would be categorised according to the artists. This area is similar to how the lux website sorts out their light works. By clicking one of the artist profiles it would go onto another page.

This page would have the overall image and information about the work and the artist. We would also add a snapshot of their location and a link to view the schedule.

This is another concept after clicking from the three location template page. It would have one main frame but smaller thumbnails for the user to click through. Underneath the artist profile and installation info would appear. It kind of seems less clustered that way but we will discuss further into this tomorrow.

Social Page

The social page is based more on the people's use of social media and interaction with the event. Images from instagram/twitter/facebook would be live on this page along with an icon of that particular social media network. On the right is a place for users on the site to leave feedback/comments.

This is another concept for the social page. Also another though is to call it an 'experiences' page which interweaves with our memorable word. This concept is more based on the users of the actual website rather than social media. Along the right side you would be able to see tweets from twitter.

About Us Wireframe Test

I tested out a possible layout for our about us page. It does look like two strips but it's just a conceptualisation so far.  The about us is more based on the content and our sponsors/supporters.
After consulting with each other we think it might be odd having a map in the about us page and map tab so will so far stick to the vimeo video of previous works.

This is the further refined mood board incorporating all our words. It gives the essence of what our site may look like depending on how we develop from the process.

Website planning

Testing Homepage Layout and Composition

Tried out some colour blocking to divide up sections of the website and have some contrast. Still looking a bit weird though anyone else have any ideas?

-Still not sure about the interactive map thing (where to put it)

-Not sure about what to put in the image slide show as well

-Also, thought of maybe we could add some type of light pattern or visual that guides the user down the page ( if it makes sense).

I'll try some more later on and see if I can make it any better. I'll try some of the other pages as well later because we need all the pages to have a wireframe.

Hopefully we can get the site clickable and the layouts of the pages sorted by next week.

Wireframe

Wireframe- About Us

Just tried out another way we could structure the about us page from looking at what Rebecca did. Still working on the layout because I'm not sure about how the sponsors, supporters and event partner logos can go on the page.

-tried out nav bar on side rather than top just to see what it could look like. I'm thinking of maybe keeping it at the top rather than side. What do you guys think?

About Us Wireframe

The sponsor section currently looks a bit confined, and not visually appealing. I need to figure a different way to position them.

Maybe I should try align the sponsor section with the 'about us' introduction. I decided to separate each section with lines so it appears more organised.

Refined Sitemap & Wireframes

Sitemap

Old Sitemap
Refined Sitemap

Did a further refinement of our sitemap. We discussed about hierarchy and decided that the more important tabs should go first (left to right).

Our 'about us' section remains in the same position but we decided that it could possibly lead to the map. There will be a interactive map in the 'about' section where the viewer can scroll over or click certain locations that is pinpointed. Hovering over the point will show the artist and the location of the particular lightwork. When you click a certain point, it will take you to the lightworks section where the audience can learn more about the specific lightwork/artist.

I switched map with gallery as it is more prominent to our 4 personas. We found that most of our personas would want to know where the light festival is located, and see how many lightworks there are pinpointed on the map. It is also a good way-finding tool for those who are not familiar with the area such as tourists. We decided to include a pdf print section, as well as a schedule so the audience won't miss out on anything. We discussed about having the colours reversed for the printable map so the audience won't be using up their black ink. The map will also lead to the lightwork.

We also decided to exchange the name 'gallery' to 'lightworks' as it will be containing previous works and also artists profiles. We felt that 'gallery' did not suit the content inside.

Social tab will now include a live feed where the audience can upload their photos/videos of the Lux festival. This will allow people to share their experience through social media and can tag their friends and family. This will be a useful tool for self publicity. We also included a live comment section where the audience can leave feedback even if they don't have social media.

We discussed about having the guidelines and application on the same page as they each have little content. It seems to be useful to have them on the same page so the viewer can refer back to the guidelines without having to click back or go on a different page. We decided to change 'be involved' to 'get involved' as it previously sounded like a command.

Homepage Wireframe

Home page is still a working process, and may change after we start putting the content on the page. Still concerned about the placement of the count down widget. Do you guys think it's better to be above the intro or below? Open to suggestions.

Beginning to put content and visual onto the wireframe. I found myself changing a lot of things when I got to see it visually. I found in particular, that the text layout wasn't working as well as it did on the wireframe, so I think we need to play around with the text and perhaps construct a grid system to help plan out how we want to lay out our text. So far it's still looking a little plain on the 2nd half. Not really fitting into our 3 words at the moment (Captivating, Energy and Memorable).

Site Map + Homepage Wireframes

Sitemap

Decided to add a language option for tourist that may not have English as their first language.
Also included a search option for a faster way to find information. A interactive image at the beginning of the page is to "captivate" the audience.

If we are including a video on our homepage, then we could limit the amount of photos we put up on the site. Possibly adding a map instead so the website doesn't appear too plain.

Having a possible slide show of images so the page isn't cramped up with photos. It will be also a easier way to view the images.

Tried to include both a slideshow and an interactive image.

Added a social media feed so people can stay connected, see photos and hear peoples thoughts about the festival.

Wireframe

Wireframe of Homepage

Mapped out a wireframe for our possible homepage. Was thinking that maybe just having not too much information on the homepage with visuals would be enough. Because I found on the lux site there seemed to be a lot to scroll through.

For the sponcer and the supporter logos, I thought that maybe we could put them into the about us page.

a possibility of added a lot of visuals on the homepage to draw people in.

-limiting the amount of imagery so that people will also read the text.
-Incorporating date into the picture- Since in the original lux site sometimes people don't see where the date of the event is.

-Not sure about whether we want a video or image on the front page. but if we did we could just added 3 images below the introduction to lux.

added three buttons:

-download the map
-be involved- sign up form
-Join the Conversation- the social media

-Thought of maybe putting the social media feed on the front page as well so people can see it right away instead of having to click to go somewhere else.

-added a countdown till the event and moved the date of event section down.

-added social media buttons and languages option.

-thought of maybe showing a visual map on the front page with a video or image.
-was thinking of maybe having more white space between each element though because it looks a bit cramped in the plan.
